Bunting and Butterflies!

My bunting is finished! I am really pleased with it so thanks again to Mum for doing all my cutting for me and getting me started. I have made it in three sections so it can be hung in one long strip or in three sections one above the other if space is limited.

Please excuse the quality of the photos, they were taken in the evening and would really have benefited from some natural light!

I also wanted to share my butterfly badges with you. I shall be selling these at the Handm@de Cambridge Craft Fair on Saturday the 5th December (not long now!). These floral butterflies have been hand-stitched to their fabric base down the centre only so their wings stand forward and reveal a contrasting geometric fabric reverse. The butterfly shown has a bright pink gingham on the reverse.

Laura Ashley - Bella Butterfly Design

This morning I received the new Laura Ashley catalogue in the post and as usual it contains a wonderfully stylish mix of classic and contemporary designs.

I was also really excited to see the extended Bella Butterfly range. I designed this Girl's bedlinen range for Laura Ashley back in 2005 for a Spring/Summer 2006 launch and am thrilled that it continues to do well. Wallpaper, printed fabric and a rug have been added to the range this season and they look great alongside the existing products.

Appliqué Artworks - Butterflies and Flowers

Today it is back to children's designs, although I feel that these two designs would also be suitable for older girls/adults products. These designs have actually turned out to be two of my favourites and I would love to see them not only on textiles but also on stationery products. I think they would make really pretty cards and gift wrap.

The butterflies on this design are made up from strips of fabric and ribbon/trim and then appliquéd to the jersey base. All of the flower outlines have been embroidered by hand. The frill finishing off the bottom of this design makes it suitable for use on children's fashion, I imagine it as a layered skirt and t-shirt set.
